The Dragon Ball universe is ever-growing considering how much the fans love the series and how the creators are always ready to answer the fan’s expectations never failing to amaze each and every one of us. From humble beginnings back in the ’80s with stuff like Dragon Ball we were already introduced to a bunch of characters that’d be with us throughout the journey, being those childhood friends everyone loves to meet up and catch up on. Characters kept being added to the series throughout the years reaching to a point that it was hard to keep up with and remember each and every one of them. Some characters outshined the others but it didn’t mean that the other characters were ‘bad’ or ‘not good enough’ by any means. It’s the plot and the story development that made things like that making some names go down never to be recalled again. But these characters were unique and great in their very own roles and gave us the time while they lasted on the screen. So let’s give ourselves a memory check and count down to the Top 10 Least Known Dragon Ball Characters.

10. Chiaotzu
Let’s go all the way back to when Goku was fighting his first-ever World Martial Arts Tournament. The stage was set and all eyes were on Goku to take it all home. Well, it’s our eyes I’m talking about since no one in the audience knew the kid and he was a nobody to them. But they were surely made to rethink and reshape their opinion of the up and coming strongest kid in the world the moment they saw his first bout. But he came face to face with someone his master had previous ties with and not pleasant ones at that as well. Tien and Chiaotzu were trained by Roshi’s rival and he knew clearer than anyone of how strong they were. But defeating them was necessary since it was a fight between the sensei’s that the students were fighting at this point. Still, Chiaotzu didn’t have much to show in the entirety of the series but his sacrifice in order to make Nappa a bit weaker and to buy some more time for Goku to arrive was admirable and the moment when he popped off for sure.
9. Raditz
Beginning of Dragon Ball Z. We see a character who’s never been to the Barber’s and dresses rather strange considering he’s not that mecha to be from a robotic futuristic era. Still, he had that scouter as if the other lens went missing or he was short on funds to afford the entire piece. The strength of the character was made clear the moment he returned the bullet shot at him by a farmer who was just looking after his village doing his work. I have to admit, no one’s ever done that except Raditz, returning the bullet just by the flick of the finger and making it go faster than the one made to go through ten guns simultaneously. He wasn’t that mentioned of even later on in the series and we didn’t get to see him in the afterlife either. But nostalgia was offered and our memories were refreshed when we got to see the kid version of him in the recent Dragon Ball Super movie.
8. Pikkon
Here’s a character who could’ve been worth a lot more, could’ve played a major part in the series if things would’ve been a bit different. The moment he was introduced, everyone knew that he was strong and someone who could go head to head with Goku without dying of course lol. Goku’s adventures in the afterlife were interesting for sure and showed us a brand new side to Dragon Ball. Anyways, the character looked and sounded super cool with all that alpha impression he exhibited, the aura that enveloped him since the beginning. More so, his bout with Goku was something fans had seen coming from afar and something that gave us the taste of that adrenaline for sure. His attacks are rather unique and bring out the originality of the character even more. Sad he wasn’t a part of the series for long enough.

7. Grand Kai
We remember King Kai who was rumored to be super strong and a sensei every pupil would’ve desired for when it came to Martial Arts. Ever since Goku caught wind of that name there at the snake way, we all knew something was in for us at the end of that snake at that planet floating all by itself with a house on it. Later on, we heard a different name along with all those East, West, North, South Kai’s. Akira sure loves to name cities and characters geographically now doesn’t he? Grand Kai stood out the most for sure since he was unlike any other character we saw before. All cool giving off the impression that he’s ready to outshine all the stars combined, he was the epitome of swag in the Dragon Ball taking all the series into consideration as well. Do you remember that old man that blew up on the internet being the alpha geezer? This is him made 2D feast your eyes on.
6. Appule
It’s not a problem if you don’t know this character since his life was literally like two episodes in the show. Apple made his ‘short’ appearance in the Planet Namek Saga while we were seeing characters and people of all colors and sizes. Most of them weirdos and trolls for sure but they brought in the comedy so we embrace them with open arms lol. Still, Appule was kind of known for his intelligence and strategies, having the ability to see things through in a way no one else could. Well, that big head sure serves a purpose now, doesn’t it? He didn’t rank that high up in the army that Frieza had gathered over the decades and still had Zarbon and Dodoria as his superiors making him not special at all.
5. Dabora
It’s not that he’s not known or someone that stays in the shadows never wanting to come out. The Majin Buu saga was probably the most diverse in the whole Dragon Ball Universe if you take into account all the action and special character interactions that went on in it. Deborah had a great impact earlier in the saga when he was brewing all this trouble with Babidi being partners in crime. He even had an ability that no one else had shown us before in the Dragon Ball Universe, which is having saliva that serves as the eyes of Cleopatra herself. He is sure has eaten some weird stuff to make that happen. He was well known and someone that no one could’ve missed in the beginning. But later on, so much went down, so much happened that things got intertwined in a way that people got real busy keeping up than keeping count of the people who died at the hands of Buu since there’s a lot of them.
4. Turles Dragon Ball Characters
We know a lot of Saiyans at this point in the story considering how they were said to be extinct only a handful of them in the entire universe the moment Raditz set foot on Earth. This was one that was unique in a way that he deemed a fruit superior to the moon itself. There’s a reason for that, bare with me. Turles is the main antagonist of the movie, Tree of Might and the movie is really different than the other Dragon Ball movies. The reason why I say this is it represents a Dragon Ball version of the devil fruit that One Piece seems to brag about a lot. The sown seed and the fruit that sprouts followed by him eating it and kicking Goku and probably everyone’s ass was an outcome everyone knew was coming but a Saiyan ignoring the moon and going for fruit instead. That’s something new for sure and he sure roke the stereotype lol.
3. Karin
The name’s misleading I’m telling you. You ever saw this cat who’s white as snow and is more of a supporting character but stands above all? Sigh, Let me drop in a bit more hints. Senzu beans? The ones they chew on and are all recovered making us chew them in real life getting nothing but food poisoning and stomachaches? Yes Karin is the cat who comes up with them. Karin stands on top of a tower named after himself. Apparently he’s 800 years old and is sure someone who brings the nine lives’ thing to picture right here. Moreover, he’s a martial arts master and someone who’s more than willing to help whenever Goku drops by to grab some beans from the cat.
2. Yajirobe Character
The MVP of the Saiyan invasion arc, the chubby guy who was ready to risk it all and was the one who saved Earth other than Goku for the first time in the history of Dragon Ball. He had his moment when he sneaked up on Oozaru Vegeta and cut off his tail making him revert back to his original self. Prior to that, Goku was getting suffocated to death at the hands of Vegeta and was about to have his last breath when he jumped in. That slash was one of the coolest things and something no one had seen coming since Yajirobe was never someone who was shown to be good in combat. He sure popped off and had a defining moment that was way better than Puar or Oolong for sure.
1. Gogeta SSJ4
I didn’t talk much about GT since most of the people aren’t familiar with it and it’s something not many people like to talk about. But still, it’s great in its own way and something that’s a must-watch if you haven’t already. We all know how the blue Gogeta had everyone by storm the moment he was unveiled in the Broly movie. I still remember people going all crazy just by looking at the character just in the trailer. Boy, you haven’t seen this bad boy yet I believe. His whole character, to the whole dialogue to his signature move that makes everything else look bland, Big Bang Kamehameha, is the best movie ever to exist in the history of Dragon Ball and something that all of us has watched by now considering how much it’s been all around the place.
